Many online forums have specific areas for general topics or discussion that fall outside the usual topics or purpose of the main forum. Unfortunately, such general topics can often degenerate into divisive personal rants, which can get silly or ugly.
I agree that many of these postings seem redundant and out-of-place here, but some people just love to preach their perspective, regardless of who it offends, as if they are going to change the world here. I usually try to ignore it, unless it becomes personally threatening or a gross mischaracterization.
