Too slow is as bad as too fast.
When I was training folks on PTs / HTs, I always encouraged then to roll through a bump.
In other words, roll up to a bump ( at an appropriate speed ) and continue straight through ( over ) it.
Practice with small bumps till you build up your knowledge and confidence.
If you stop, and try to start against the bump you are relying on traction, and if it slips or loses traction, yes you will fall down.
