Default Poor quality vs Good quality InfoKey button batteries

The dimming you are experiencing when pushing buttons that cause the InfoKey to transmit is almost certainly due to a weak button battery. This is also the usual cause of the time resetting.

In recent years a number of cheap brands of poor quality button batteries have flooded the market. When used in Segway InfoKeys these cheap brands either don't work at all, or last only a few weeks. The colder the weather, the worse they work and shorter they last. They are a waste of money. They cause great frustration.

Find a source of high quality button batteries that are made in Japan by a top international brand. Watchmakers/Jewellers Shops can be a good source. Discount Electronics stores are not.

I've had good experience with Sony, Varta, Energizer, Maxell, Panasonic, etc - but only when these have 'Made in Japan' printed on the packaging. A quality button cell that has been manufacturers using the full amount of materials should last between 6 months and 2 years inside a Segway InfoKey for many private owners (depending on how many times you push the buttons per day/week).
