The purists here will dis anything that is not a real segway, because this is a segway enthusiasts site, not a dynamic balancing conveyance enthusiasts site. I personally am a big fan of the segway, because I believe it was so well designed. I have gotten to know some of the principals, (many if not most whom have moved on) and have respect for them as well.

All that said, this market and demographic is WAY overdue for some new... anything! We need new machines, we need new ideas. Even a good copy gets the juices flowing. If the copy is good enough, it may take some market share. If the current owners of that market share want to get it back, they will make theirs even better.

Capitalism, market competition, innovation, price competition, all the things that drive an economy, a techno race, and the life blood of commercialism are all missing here, or at such a low ebb, that there is no movement, and has been none for too long.

Maybe this will be the push we all needed to get moving faster again.
