Scooters save police legs in Brazil

Found this on a Segway fact-hunting session. They aren't using Segways but it illustrades the advantages of small, quick, clean vehicles for security.

The detractors would say that you have shown why Segway is not needed. The point they would be ignoring though is the length and manuverability of those 4 foot long devices with at least a five foot turning radius, as opposed to Segway's ability to spin in it's own tracks, ie turn on a dime. The price difference question would depend on how crowded the courthouse gets as to whether manuverability is worth the extra cost.

The following would obviously apply to Segway as well.

Quote:

quote:"Each scooter frees up 10 police officers from foot patrols, and this means I can assign them to other activities", said Captain Tassi.

Captain Tassi believes that the electric scooters can go beyond policing inside buildings, and could be used for patrolling the boardwalks or even the seafront.

I wonder if these three-wheelers would be allowed on a commuter rail?
