The red coil looks like a deadman's switch, wonder what the black wire is - the same thing, only manual? I imagine these would be quite noisy, Rich, yes.
But for everyone who has indicated the only problem with the HT was that you couldn't stand on it sideways :) this might work for them.

Black cord is probably a throttle.

One of the videos show a "torture test". There is absolutely nothing impressive about it's capabilities aside from the way it is ridden. It's a nice piece of engineering but my seg with knobbies can do better in every way - except for top speed.

If they make an electric two wheel drive version that can actually tackle some real terrain (or at least go uphill well) then I might have to get one.

I saw these at NextFest in San Francisco last year. The reps were bad-mouthing Segways when I was walking by.
They look kinda fun, but I think I'd maybe use it once or twice a year.
