I cannot help feeling that Dean Kemen would have been well able to power the Segway with either flywheel technology or a flywheel/Stirling combination at launch.
I am sure the reason this did-not happen was the resrictions placed upon him by the power industries. These guys are very powerful (sorry for the pun) and would not wish to see their revenues vanish overnight
which is will would happen once small cheep power gernators become available.
As usual the big guys look after number-one and never-mind the larger picture. Our dependeny on oil exported by countries who have other agenders than our own and global warming come to naught beside share prices and profit margins.
The real question is how can Dean overcome this problem.
Any thoughts?

Do u see any other likely explainations for Kamen not releasing the stirlings... like they werent ready yet?

I would reject the big corporation conspiracy idea. Our laws require too much public disclosure to pull that off.

Lean Machine... thanks for that link. There is a lot to read, but I did browse through it quickly.

Question: Although I understand the resistance by big oil and the like towards alternative energy solutions, what stops anyone from just posting their plans on the internet.. or mass mailing the designs to random people around the world. Why not just get the truth "out there"? Know what I mean?

They cannot post valid evidence if they do not have the necessary funding to develop their energy claims. Also, one would need investors to develop these technologies and market them... which requires a patent.

As for mass-mailing. Observation tells me that humans are stupid. Plain and simple. They do not care what gets them from point A to point B, because they are too busy killing eachother and seeking money. If alternative energy hits the market, the economy would be ruined. It would eventually restructure itself. Gas stations would be useless. Natural gas would be useless. Electrical systems would be useless. Airlines would be useless.

Infinite energy = infinite killing. Many objects, such as wood, dirt, etc, are called dimagnetic objects. They repel all magnetic fields. If a person were to build a high-powered magnetic tube (several megawatts), they could repel any object at high velocities... lethal velocities. There are even hypothetical weapons that use pure energy to mutilate. Weapons that "shoot out heat" in straight lines.

Oh come come Jnadke let us not decend into the Troll Wood!
