Best way to repair i180 control shaft bumper
 

What is the best way to reattach the rubber trim/bumper on the front of control shaft, between the height adjustment collar and the base?

There is dried adhesive where the bumper use to be. What is the best way to remove the old adhesive, and what is the best adhesive to use to reattach it?

A dab of silicone sealant/adhesive should hold it in place.
