Ninebot Segway Go Kart Installation Woes

I have just taken delivery and am trying to complete the New Rider Tutorial.

When I am asked to double press the brake pedal it just beeps at me and judders :mad:

What am I doing wrong?

The LED padlock button on the rear is illuminated, not sure if this matters?
