Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to put other tires on my I167?

Can I use other 19" tires (motorcycle) or not? If Yes does anyone got a suggestion?

Hi Bert, welcome to SC! I've been using steel-studded tires off-road on my HT, but they can't be ridden on pavement (but they are great on ice). Another SC member ,W9GFO, got me started using some motorcycle knobbie tires with 14 inch centers. I'm using Michelin MS2's size 60/100-14
they have to have inner tubes in them size 225/250-14. We drill a hole for the valve stem on the "inside" of the Segway rim (more room)and very carefully remove/mount the tires from the outside of the plastic wheel because cracking can occur. The tire/inner-tube combo can be bought for only $30 from,

They work quite well and also fit under the existing HT fender.

edit - Segway also sells Extra-Traction Tires "ETT's" already mounted on the wheel - with real tread on them, instead of the original issure tire.

The 60/100-14s are front tires as used on motorcycles. You can also use the rear tires but you'd have to leave the fender off (or modify it). The wider rear tires fit the Segway wheels better so you could get away without using an inner tube.

Here is what the MS2's look like -

Be prepared to sweat a bit the first time you demount the tire from the rim - they are on there real good. And like Dan said - make sure you pry the tire off from the outside of the rim. You would be tempted to do it from the backside so that any scratches you make won't show. Don't. There is little support on the backside and the rim will flex when you pry on it - do it on the outside.
