I live near the Pentagon in Arlington Virginia and this morning I got up early and glided over to the Pentagon North Parking Lot to see the Rolling Thunder form up for their annual Memorial Day ride to the Vietnam Memorial. These guys have been in town a few days and Washington is like Harley City! It was quite a site and I got lots of "nice wheels" and "hey can I try that!" - But not one disparaging remark!

Just a heads up: The DC Segfest will be held the same weekend as the Washington Area Bicycle Associations's 3rd annual "50 States Ride", a 60-plus mile route where participants will ride on every state-named street in DC. Any mass Segway event is likely to look pretty feeble in comparison. On the other hand, any Segway that could complete the entire 50 states circuit might be note worthy.

If riding 2 hours is fun, then riding 20 hours is 10 times more fun.

Beck, I have participated in Run For The Wall and Rolling Thunder for the last 5 years, you forgot to mention their mission, 'To keep the POW/MIA issue alive in the minds of our government'. Go to RFTW.org for information, maybe think about joining them next year and travel all the way across the country.

Plus DC will be hosting the World Bank Conference too! So there will be lots of protesters and closed down streets. A perfect fit for Segway Use, no doubt it will be a very busy fall weekend in DC.

But as they always do, Segways will fit in very well in an urban enviornment, And the Glides that are planned will be all about town, so who knows somewhere along the line a feeble group of gliders will come across some sweaty folks on bikes, or some very properly dressd bankers. Just another day in the Nations Capital!

No matter what, it will be a fun time. And if the weather is good all the better!
