There's a really interesting program on the Discovery Channel tonight called "Submarine: Hidden Hunter," which shows Stirling engines being used for propulsion on Sweden's Gotland Class submarines. The subs can stay submerged for up to a month with a liquid oxygen supply. Pretty cool to see an actual large-scale application of Stirlings.
Here's a site that discusses the subs: http://www.kockums.se/Submarines/gotland.html

The program will run again tonight at 11pm EDT.
