Hi everyone,

First of all, I don't have connections with Segway LLC, so please don't assume that I can influence Segway LLC to do the segwayfest at a certain location. But perhaps when there are enough replies on this message someone else can influence Segway LLC.

I am wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea if the next segwayfest would be held somewhere in Europe, ofcourse then it probably ofcourse fits better into mine (and probably also into others) budget to visit the event, further:

- it gives all the Americans a reason to visit the beautiful europe :-)
- It will improve the vision that Segway LLC really has big plans for europe (and the rest of the world)
- It might stimulate goverments to accept the Segway HT in their country
- etc.

It's just an idea, please let me know what you folks think of it.

Kind regards,

Florin

The gentleman from Keolis (?) at SegwayFest 2004 indicated interest in having a SegwayFest Europe next year. Just FYI.

Also, Segway LLC doesn't organize SegwayFest. It's an enthusiast gathering, and for the last two years it has been organized by the hard-working guys and gals at Innoventions out of Chicago.

Expect to see lots of regional, national, and international gatherings in the coming months and years.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info, could you provide me some contact information (by mail or in this forum) of the Keolis gentleman and of Innoventions.

I see a growing interrest for the Segway here in europe, so perhaps together we can make a Segwayfest europe.

Kind regards,

Florin

Florin,

Jim and Chandra Reynolds of Innoventions will probably see your post here. But you can e-mail Jim directly by using the contact info for his user-name of "fathertime" here on SegwayChat.

Here is a link to the Segway folks in France who work with Keolis. Click on the 'contacts' tab. I am not sure if the Francois Coenen listed there is the same person who spoke with us at SegwayFest, but I am sure he would be a good person to start with.

note to Glidemaster - Believe it or not, the contacts page at the link above has your picture on it. Of course that helmet has been put on your head again somehow. Maybe this is why you don't have time to post much anymore, because you are so busy traveling around the world posing for pictures for everyone's websites!

Rodney

May all your days be Segway days!

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for the info.

Jim and/or Chandra: If you read this message, Can you give us an idea of what kind of things you all need to do to organize an event like the SegwayFest. We probably can use this info to possibly organize an similiar event in Europe.

Thanks in advance,

Florin

Good morning Florin,

Having just returned from Alaska, and having a busy month of October traveling since attending Segwayfest in Fort Myers, I finally wanted to take just a moment to thank the Reynolds family for their hard work and personal sacrifice, not only in terms of time, but especially financial.

Their gift to the segway community has been unequaled. There are none here nor anywhere else who have scratched the surface of the commitment that the Reynolds family has made.

For those of you in Europe who wish to replicate an event there, you must be prepared to experience not only tremendous financial loss, but also endure undeserved criticism and second-guessing from all those who would never be prepared to step to the plate.

The old adage "no good deed ever goes unpunished", so, if you're prepared to stand alone in the wind, put together an absolutely first-class event, and offer a real opportunity to not only learn something, but develop long-standing personal relationships for those in your segway community, then absolutely go for it.

Undoubtedly, you will, as I know the Reynolds have, experience the deep felt gratitude of those of us in the minority of this community who truly appreciate the great gift that the Reynolds family has given us.

I do have one word of advice, if you want to have a segway enthusiast festival in Europe, then why not hire Innoventions i.e. the Reynolds family to put it on for you. They have the knowledge, they have the experience, and I think they deserve the opportunity.

I couldn't agree more.

Not being able to attend Segfest 2003, I made it my resolve to attend Segfest 2004 and it was first rate all the way. I have nothing but praise and admiration for all those involved and unlike others, I hope they can make some money from this event and keep it going for many years to come.
