NYC Segway meeting Nov. 4th

Please attend the November 4th meeting of the SegNYC owners group. We need to build our membership and see some of the older faces. We will have several important issues to discuss regarding the tours, disabled and legal efforts. The meeting will be at the same place Patio Cafe, 47th St and 1st AVE 6pm. Hope to see a good turnout.

Many people have asked to have our meeting in a more central place. Since it might be cold and Times Square is a fun place to glide lets have the meeting at The Friday's in Time Square. It has a 3rd floor for meeting and is Segway friendly. If members want to move the meeting location let me know.

Any possibility of moving the meeting to either Wednesday the 3rd or Friday the 5th. I"m unavailable on Thursdays so if this would be OK with everyone I'd like to be there.

Friday is my wife's birthday. If I attend the NYC meeting on that day, I will probably come home to changed locks. <grin>

Wont Fridays be too crowded for Segways especially Time Square, has this been tried before? They may be segway friendly when its just a couple but will they be friendly when there are 20 or more? Also where will we put them, especially on the 3rd floor. Also i am just a bit concerned about causing too much attention given the legal status in NYC, outdoor Cafes are more secluded and the last thing i think we would want is everyone to have their segways confiscated or ticketed. Itsi, what do u think?

When I return to town, I will check it out. The TS Friday's is always a place I stop, eat and charge. They have an elevator to 3rd floor and a private room. Most of the waitresses and the manager have been on my Segway. However it is expensive for what you get. We can continue to discuss great places, but I would like to see everyone inside in case it rains, snows or is cold, which is usually the case. Nice to see new names interested in the meetings. We need new faces (so does DC) but the elections will be history, so, time to unite and move on! Let's make this the post SegFest fest.

I hope someone will want to plan a big, wild Segway Christmas event and party. So, think about it and we can decide at the November meeting. It would be nice to honor many of the NYC people who during the last year got up, got out and helped the cause. 2005 WILL BE THE YEAR!

It is important that you attend this meeting so lets plan on Thursday the 4th @ 6PM to keep things consistant and fair. we should plan on the 4th of every month.
Later this winter when it gets too cold, we could rent out the dance studio again.

I am sorry I can not attend the meeting on the 4th. I will be in a parade at the Jersey shore. I will try to make the next one. I hope Stan can have a meeting in New Jersey soon. Itsi If you can get in the parade or if you plan to do anything that will help the Segway cause you can count me in.

That is very helpful and we appreciate new members, it will be important to work together SegwayNYC and SEGAM to share information and promote Segway use. The SegwayNYC group is giving the "crystal wheel" award to the 10mph group when they arrive in NYC. This is the same award with was given to Frank Tropea last summer. Dean was at the meeting and presented it to Frank. We will discuss the details at our meeting. We want to give a NYC welcome to this group and will escort them thru the City.

BRING YOUR SEGWAYS, I just returned from a glide of Democracy Plaza, (rockefeller plaza). It is extremely educational and worth a trip. It will have all the displays, up until Friday and the crowds will be very small on Thursday.
The plan is:
Patio Cafe is closing early (6pm) due to winter hours.
WE WILL MEET AT Patio Cafe (47TH & 1ST AV) AT 6PM
AT 6:45 LETS GLIDE OVER TO DEMOCRACY PLAZA
AFTER THE GLIDE, I have a Irish Bar & Restaurant Channel 4,
which will allow us all to come in get warm and charge the machines. They are located 1 block from Rockefeller Plaza, 58 W 48th St. They have plenty of room and welcome our Segways.
So if you are attending with Segway meet at 47th & 1st at 6-6:30pm
If you want to meet without a Segway, it would be best to go to Rockeffer Plaza and wait for us to arrive. The weather is calling for possible rain and cool. If it is raining hard check the site or call me my cell 917 861 8024

OK Stan I corrected information on the above postl. If we can get over to the Plaza before 7p we will be able to see 1 of 25 copies of the Declaration, set of the Oval Office (good for pics) and a mock up of Air Force One. Many other displays to see at this one time event. VOTE and UNITE. and show up to the meeting with a Segway between 6 and 6:30 Thursday Nov. 4th.

Bring your rain coats and umbrellas, we do this rain or shine. If you are dressed for it gliding in the rain is not so bad.
I will be bringing my pump and tools. If you need something checked try to get there early.

The weather tomorrow looks like ski pants weather, Mine are already hanging by the door.
Stan won't be the only one with a trailer, I was able to scavange enough parts from the sidewalks plus $80 worth of hardware and $100 for the lighting.

I check out the Plaza and the displays will still be up and I told the cops to expect us. I went in the Channel 4 Bar which is recently openned and they have a big monitor tv in the back. If anyone wants to bring tape of the SegFest or stills, we can use the video in jack. They do not have any equipment for payback so bring it. Call me on my cell if you need information (917 861 8024) or going to be late and can't find us.

I will bring a small cd player, so any segway discs which you want to show please bring alone. Burn some of your pictures for us.
Try to meet by 6:30 at the latest. WE need to be at Rockefeller Plaza by 7 to see the displays.

Rain, Rain and plans had to be changed. We never made it to Rockefeller PLAZA DUE to the rain. We put a sign in the Patio Cafe and all gathered at the International Diner at 49th/1st.I called Channel 4 bar and hope everybody got the message.
Stan, Joanne, Steven, Bill, Mac, itsi and a new member MacGeek (Jonathan). We welcome him to our group and look forward to his association. Our next meeting will be hosted by Segway Bill and will be inside at a dance studio on Dec. 3 or 4th.
The review of the meeting and pictures will probably be posted by one of the members. Hope to see some of the old members in Dec.
