Do you carry any insurance for this new enterprise? What will you do if someone steals your new toy? Do you know how to properly train? Do you provide/require helmet use? You seem to have started this very quickly and without much careful planning. If you answered no to any of the above, god help LLC...

Not to mention what Mom & Dad might say when they come home to find demos being performed in the front room.

Andrew,
Be very careful! This road is paved with many thorny issues. As one who deals with the public everyday I can tell you that there are a lot of scam artists out there that will not only steal from you but will get you involved with legal issues for their own benefit. Best to re-think this and consult with others who have previously done so. Above all make sure that you are properly insured, and get those waivers signed. Consult your attorney and your insurance agent before taking this giant step. It is far better to be cautious because the pitfalls far outweigh the benefits.[:O]

Andrew! "pay no attention to the man behind the curtin" I have money for you, if you like, get me your Mom's credit card # and I can get a lot of cool stuff for your P model, like GPS and Custom Paint while I rent it from you.

Take the money. and work it into more money, by leasing more custom HT'S. Your plan is great!!!!

Think of all the money you will make! And all the cool Custom Segway's you will own!!!!!!

will you give me a deal on one?

Andrew,

"get me your Mom's credit card #"???

I wouldn't touch any part of that deal with a 10-foot pole!!

Be safe,
Dick

"I hope that these threads are telling you something very important."

It tells me that it's a shame no-one takes personal responsibility these days and a scumbag lawyer is waiting around every corner to take your belongings. Sad but true.

Andrew, dont get bummed out, we are just showing you what could happen out there in the real world. You are lucky to be under the wing of the good people at Segway Chat!

Don't ever give up with New Ideas, you never know what's down the road. It's people like you that get things done!

Never fear failure, most people don't even try!

Andrew , you could make a few bucks mowing lawns in your neighborhood.
O, hold on, never mind, you probably need 1 million $ in insurance policy.
How about a paper route?
O forget it, the newspaper could land in the wrong place and you could lose EVERYTHING!

It's not about liability being out there. It's always out there. It's about operating the business using common sense and anticipating all contingencies. If you do this you can effectively prevent 99% of incidents that could lead to liability. Or, you could always move out of the country...

One of the reasons I did move was cost of insuring my garden service in Carmel.
Couldn't afford to be in business any longer.
Way too many lawyers in the USA looking to go after someone.
The other day I was talking with a European fellow. The guy owned a resort on an island. We were contemplating him having Segways available to his guests. His parting comment was, good idea, but I'm afraid I'd be sued by some American.

You're right Jeff. America is wat too much of a litigitious society. and when it comes right down to it, its the lawyers who are the only winners. thats why I dropped out of graduate law school. didn't like the ethics...
