Hello all,
I was directed to this forum, as apparently I’ve been getting some publicity. I thought I’d put a new top level post to make sure people who read the earlier post would see this one (without it being buried down at the bottom of some thread) A couple answers to a couple common questions regarding my segway auction:

I am requiring the additional personal information OR 30 dollar retainer ONLY from newly registered users with no feedback. Anyone with a history or an older account is free to bid. This is only a step designed to keep whom ever scammed me from simply re-registering and bidding again. I’ve just been made aware of this forum, but if anyone here is not a registered Ebay user, and wants to register to bid… having a long standing account here easily qualifies as “additional personal information”. Like I say, I just want to avoid getting that same guy again.
I won the Segway while attending the “Metering North America” conference in San Diego. Basically it was a conference for meter related (think gas/water/electric) companies. Segway was there to encourage utility companies to have the meter readers segway around residential neighborhoods to increase efficiency. The show was hosted by a company called “Spintelligent” http://www.spintelligent.com
My history on Ebay is blank, although I’ve been registered for a while. I have only purchased one small thing off of Ebay, about two years ago. It was a Sarracenia Leucophylla (A carnivorous plant.. North American pitcher plant). The guy was selling a bunch of them, so I guess he forgot to give me feedback (it was a ‘dutch auction’) Other than that, during that time I’ve been a classic poor college kid with neither the funds to buy things, or the time to sell them. Being new to the Ebay selling thing, I was a little concerned about whether anyone would buy from me with a blank score. I was happy to see someone sold a nearly identical auction (3671295754), with a 0 score, so I went ahead and did mine. (Of course, this -1 does not help things now, as you can see) I am trying to get my score up to at least +10 though…. Segway also gave me some bumper stickers, and I noticed someone else selling a bunch… so I figured I’d sell a couple of those to get a higher score.
Basically, I’m just selling this because I’m a recent college graduate, that pretty much sums up the finances. :)
As we all learned in “The Usual Suspects”, details are the mark of a great con man… so this whole story could be an elaborate hoax (I wish I had that much time) Since that’s the case, If any trusted member of the forum lives in the Dallas Area they are welcome to come to my place and visually inspect the item in question.
The reserve is under 4,000… and I believe these things retail for 4,500 (correct me if I’m mistaken), so that seems reasonable. I think someone from this forum has called segway (I supplied them the serial number) and verified the device is registered in my name. If they could chime in, that would be appreciated.
