They say it's a dust cover, but we can all see it's a 12.0 bag.

Sounds like someone's idea of a joke, pathetic as it may seem. Right?

H-series? Are we still stuck on random letters?
But hey, a stickerpack! 10$ says its not of segways :)

That listing along with 90% of the HT's is a SCAM!

Checking all the E Bay listings and looking at closed items I only found one feedback for the Segway Items. It was from someone that won the bid, said the dust cover was great! Same E Bayer had 2 bogus HT's for sale!

I have E mailed several of the So Cal listings, (hey I will come over to look at your HT} Ya think they mailed me back ...DUH

Well one idiot did and said sorry all of them are sold!

One liget E Bayer E Mailed me with a warning of a scam, someone riped off their photos of a I Model with bags, and I told them not to worry I knew it was a con, I was just playing with this BOZO. E Bay pulled his plug!

The more time I spend here, the more I learn. like the people with photo galleries. And go figure most of the E Bay pictures are stolen right here from Segway Chat!

On a sad note the ligit seller got a non paying bidder.

On the funny side it looks like the Con Artists are getting the same non paying bidders as well, what a bunch of losers!

Anyone see this one? When are these idiots going to stop blatantly capitalizing on the Segway name and lying about how their scooters are safer because they have 4 wheels?

Didn't a poster here say the D-1 technician guy left the old base behind after a service call?
The last base that was listed on ebay did appear to be stolen. What ever happened with that one?
The motors retail for $500 and the boards $900 each.

900$, are you serious? Maybe LLC should offer the "non redundant(sp) i-s", Figure it would be atleast 1000$ cheaper...

Some details about another ebay segway scam....

I bid $3600 on an i series machine awhile back. I only bid because the seller was an ebay power seller and had over 200 transactions with positive feedback.

I was outbid by someone else. The person who outbid me was also the top bidder on several other segs that were listed. I just blew it off thinking it wasn't meant to be. Then a few days later I received an email stating that the top bidder had backed out and I was the next highest bidder. This email was formatted exactly like an ebay memo with their graphics and links....even the security page link. Here's the kicker:

The seller I was trying to win this from was dawsongrant98. The email I received was from dawsongrant98@yahoo.com. Everything looked legit and the email even matched the sellers name.

I'm naturally a very cautious buyer, so instead of responding directly to the email, I went back to ebay and contacted dawsongrant98 through them and left my phone number. Low and behold I received a phone call from the real dawsongrant98 and he explained he never sent an email to me and that his high bidder had not contacted him to purchase his segway.

What does this mean? Some clown is high bidding and keeping track of the other bidders. Then he doesn't contact the seller, but instead contacts all the other bidders like me who he knows didn't win (because he's the winner). Then he sends a real legit looking email from a bogus account with the same name as the original seller. It appears to be from ebay. Last he asks for money to be sent (wire transfer or cashiers check). It looks legit so he probably conned many folks.

This takes buyer beware to a new level.

So the happy end to this story is that the real dawsongrant98 was thankful to me for letting him know someone was using his name/history to con folks and I ended up with the Segway.

Since this happened I've seen the same patterns with the bids as what I experienced. I hope others have the forsight to really investigate before purchasing a segway on ebay.

I hope this helps anybody out there who is considering buying a segway and is looking at ebay as an option. It works, but be careful.

I bought an HT from dawsongrant98 in February, then fought with him for nearly a month due to a hugely flawed description. I wouldn't put it past that particular individual to have shill bid the price up and worse, considering the track record.

Just like anything else: know who you are dealing with, use known avenues for payment and have recourse available. Common sense goes a long way, but there will always be the criminal element waiting to pounce.....

The Segways I bought on ebay were verified by a friend in the local area.
Trust but verify.

Well happy to find the last guy was liget, with a swift E Mail reply, he told me his I Series was 9 mo old and he would use E Bay Escrow if he had to, I thanked him and told him I was looking for a newer one.

Bruce re: The Power Base, I contacted him, another swift reply stating LLC had shiped him a new one months ago and failed st send him a return shipping label. He states in his auction it is a bad unit. I think he is honest or at least willing to talk.

I don't know enough about Segways to know if this has any value to anyone here, but I don't smell a rat!

Does LLC UPS replacement parts?

Just checked all the HT scams, they seem to be gone for the moment!

Keep me posted re: The Power Base, or what value a bad one may have.

Thanks,

:) T

Hey zoomster, nice post!

I live in Newport, did I meet you at the first Open House for Segway OC?

Hey Tim

No, I unfortunately missed the open house. I had a family get together that Saturday. I was there two days later buying a new i from them though.

Great folks at Segway of OC!! I recommend them to anyone.

Being from Newport maybe you can answer this for me. Are they Seg friendly at the boardwalk down by the pier? I haven't braved going there yet.

Zoomster, I talked to Sgt. Jhonson in traffic division a couple of weeks ago, he thinks the Segways are safe, he has had a demo and knows all about them, and the law. You are welcome to ride the boardwalk, just obey the posted 5 mph speed limit.

I think he would like to own one!

He did say if some idiot's mess up the works, well you know the rest!

You have a warm hearted welcome from the NBPD!

The first Segway I saw was at the Sat morning car show in the new Crystal Cove Prominade. He lives on Balboa Island and told me he rides it to work in Newport Heights, thats where I live, maybe he works at Westcliff Plaza? It's about 2 miles up the bluff.

"How much do they charge you on the Ferry?" He said they don't know how to class him! It's diferent every time, he also said he has never tried the boardwalk.

Will you be at the Grand Opening for Segway Orange County?

Hope to meet you there.

I like the fact that many of the scams state that the Q is safer because it has 4 wheels. Of course we all know that makes it tip more not less....

My segway, however is safer because it has four wheels. I actually have six. The smooth tires it came with, the rough terrain tires I bought from LLC, and the safest off road tires (studded) that I bought from Zorba. More tires do make it safer, but you still can only use 2 at a time!
