Thanks Marshai for showing me Hobson's Woods and Williamstown. You meet the nicest people on SegwayChat. The path was definately a Beautiful challenge that last hill was so steep it made me wish I had a set of Zorba's studded tires. http://www.segwaychat.com/photos/SegwayBill/Maidys051604%20009a.JPG

Finally I'm getting around to adding to Bill's tale about his visit to Billsville! This is only the second time I've had the pleasure of gliding with someone--it has been a solo sport up here in the NW corner of Massachusetts... And SegBill was a great buddy for this trip--I learned some Segwaying pointers from him--and he played a key role in rescuing me during an ill-advised (my idea) steep descent! With our two Segways going head-to-head I discovered that my batteries drain a heck-of-a-lot faster than Bill's do--I'll try some :"deep conditioning" several times in succession and see if that helps. Anyway--the spot we chose to glide, Hopkins Forest http://www.williams.edu/CES/hmf/index.html , is off-limits to motorized vehicles but handicapped use of Segways is permited, of course. We started off on the dirt road that heads through the forest as part of the Lower Loop Trail--no obstacles, lots of birds and trees (and mosquitos!). We then explored a bit farther on the Upper Loop Trail heading down toward Birch Brook-- but the water diversion dams placed across the trail proved tedious and difficult to negotiate (see photo in Bill's posting) --so we headed back up and through the wooded part of the Lower Loop Trail. Here's a link to a photo of Bill on the start of this part of our trek: http://lanfiles.williams.edu/~maltschu/HFglide/HFSegwayBill.jpg The last part of this trail was really steep--and NOT recommended! But we made it back! We were probably out-and-about for an hour or an hour-and-a-half? Can't wait to explore more corners of the Berkshires with Bill and anyone else who wants to visit!
