Does anyone know of a portable ramp that can get the Segway into the back of a station wagon or van using Power Assist?

Try these folks:

Their ramps are 6' long, but can be cut down if needed.

These have been recommended to me: fold-up, lightweight track ramps:

After spending hours researching this subject, I went into the garage and cut a piece of 3/4 inch plywood in half, and then in half again and made 2 pieces for easy lifting, 2 foot wide and 4 foot long into a ramp that is absolutely perfect for me to use. Price? zero. Someday I'll learn how to post a picture.

a little pricey, but great for travel including the airlines!

We offer a "levitator/transporter". You can see pics in the buy & sell section.

I went to LOWE'S and bought a 10', 2"x8", pressure treated board and had it cut into four, equal length pieces. I then bought 2 ea - 8"wide HEAVY DUTY HINGES and the 9 1/4" carrige bolts ( Times 2 in order to have enough to do both ramps) and nuts to attach them to the center of the boards. $32.00

I went to Harbor Frieght and bought two 8" wide, aluminum ramp ends to complete the units. $34.00

Carefully mark and drill the holes and attach the hinges.

Put the aluminum ramp ends on the boards. You could omit the ramp ends altogether and save $34.00 on the project.

The hole drilling and assembly took about an hour - really!

When extended, the ramps are 5' long and I can Power Assist the SEG into the trunk of the VOLVO 960 I own. The trunk opens with the bottom of the lid is just above bumper level.

I must remove the CS to get the lid shut. If I try to turn the SEG sideways, it rubs on the trunk mounted CD player.

The two ramps fold up like a jack knife and easily fit next to the SEG in the trunk.

Moe,
Did you ever find your ramps? I just got an Infiniti FX35 and my Seg is rolling easily in and out with my ramps. I feel like this car's rear truck area was designed by a Seg owner. Check it out.

Hello all,

I just built my Segway ramp and wanted to tell everyone about how I made them. I went to my local home depot and got 2 pieces of the wire shelves both 6 feet long ( so I had room to cut them to length) one was 16 inches wide and the other 12. I attached the wires together using zip ties. Total cost was under 20 dollars and works great for me. I'll be sending pictures to the group when I get a chance.
