MeetUp.com is not fee based. (The subscription is for additional features.)

The workwide count is up to 58 currently. (You can make it 59.)

Originally set for every fourth Saturday, the "organizer" now has control of dates and places.

I received an e-mail announcing a meeting in the San Fernando Valley of a meeting that would be held on Oct 23/04 at 1 PM. The location of the meetings address was a Bowling Alley on Van Nuys Blvd. This building has been closed & out of business for over a year.
