A Segway through Amazon with S&H incl. tax is $5,400.00
MDA as some of you are aware, rejected my Ride Across America proposal. Unfortunate. I still though am interested in raising funds for those afflicted w/ a neuromuscular diease. The trek is not off yet.
So as follows this site has expressed an interest. Quote form their site as follows:
"Families of SMA was founded in 1984 for the purpose of raising funds to promote research into the causes and cure of the Spinal Muscular Atrophies, and to support families affected by SMA. Since then, this volunteer-driven, non-profit organization has raised more than $10 million for research into SMA."
See http://www.fsma.org <---- note the .org please.
Would the idea of running a raffle for a Segway HT be of interest if tickets were, $5, $10, or $20 each. I would run this through their web site. Donations could be accepted right through their site, allowing for authenticity for those that may be sceptical of just handing over $10.00 thinking it is a scam, sham, or other unethical attempt to take money from them.
I am, if interest is enough, in a position to order a Segway HT. I believe with the enthusiasts on this site and those involved in the FSMA organization, enough could be raised. A mere 540 people @ $10.00 each would be the break even. Anything over that would go directly to FSMA.com.
As always input and suggestions requested. Thx Drew
