Great news for the people who can use these machines. I hope they get everything finalized right away for the people who could take advantage of the I-Bot's mobility.

It looks like Kamen & Co are going to come up big with this thing. Its going to be the profits of this machine as well as the other ones for Kamen to pursue his other ideas.(whatever they are)

I bounce this thread to the top on purpose at this point for the following reason:

If you type the keywords "ibot+fda" into http://search.yahoo.com this thread comes up first with the title

"iBot FDA approved!" from last November.

Well, unfortunately, not quite yet.

What happened then was that the Special Advisory Panel to FDA unanimously recommended the approval of iBOT ... after which the actual approval is quite likely, but there are still some bureaucratic hoops to go through.

Funny enough, if you type "fda+ibot", another Segwaychat thread comes up, with the title "IBOT Approval Recommended by FDA panel"

Here is a Government Technology article that describes more clearly what happened then.

Does anybody have more recent promising news on the FDA + iBOT issue? Thanks.

Too bad the link to MSNBC is dead, but it's not the first time I have been premature.

No, it was not meant to be a criticism in any way at all. It was easy to be optimistic and raise our hopes high, but bureaucracy has its own ways. It's funny though that now the searches bring up segwaychat and not those articles first.

Soon ... some time this year anyway. Let's keep our eyes and ears open.
