The bike tour company that Segway and Keolis worked with in Paris for the Segway Slate article is offering guided Segway tours of Paris!

They posted in the off-topic area, but since I have no financial interest, and think this is cool, I decided to mention it On-topic.

They are doing this in partnership with Keolis. Guided Segway tours, with an official sanction. I can't think of a better way to offer the Segway experience to the public.

Tres bien! Magnifique!

Having taken one of these Paris tours with david on a bike, I can assure you that the Segway tour should be fantastic. I will be in Paris the first week of July and I am arranging a segway tour. Of course I will take photos and post them here.

Thanks so much for sharing your videos with us gravelpup ! That looks like the best possible tour for the Segway. I know you had to have had a blast. My Mom & Dad live in Columbia. My Dad sent me an e-mail today that said he had just finished "Code Name Ginger" that I sent him and really had a hard time putting it down to do other things. He is having a fit to come to Hawaii and ride mine. Such a small world. Thanks again for sharing. The pics on the website are ok but there is nothing like seeing actual clips from someone who has been there.

Mahalo & Aloha,

Hey all,

Yesterday, we went to Paris for the Segway tour !
Here is how I feel about it.

It was an amazing experience !! The Segway is extremely cool and it fulfills the hype in my opinion.

We arrived at the shop around 10.45am and first had a 30-minute Segway training. Our group consisted of 5 people (3 Americans, me and my dad). It went really well (better than expected).
At 11.15am, we started our glide through the city, which lasted till 4pm, much longer than expected, but with a lunch pause around 2pm.
About 1 kilometer before we arrived back at the shop, one battery was out of power and the guy had to walk the rest. The reason was 2-fold : first, we had been away longer than usual and secondly, the guy was weighing more heavily than the rest (>100 kilo), so the Segway consumed more power.
We had plenty of time to test the Segway and honestly, not much attention was paid to Paris :) Everywhere we came, people started asking questions and all of us were giving Segway demonstrations. People even stopped their car and got out !!!
The coolest thing is that it can turn on a dime... that is really amazing and a lot of fun.
The Segway is very stable, it's impossible to fall off if you behave normally. It's no problem to ride without hands and it's very intuitive.
Getting on and off is a bit tricky in the beginning because you should not pull or push the steering wheel when getting on or off.
At the end of the tour, the Segway was feeling like a second skin ! If I would use it frequently for about a week, I would feel perfectly comfortable even in busy traffic. Stopping quickly requires some exercise, but after a while it is a lot of fun to ride fast and then stop very quickly.
We rode it on the pavements, on bike paths and on the road. For medium long distance, I'd recommend using it on bike paths, but it is no threat to pedestrians on pavements in my opinion.

I did not notice much difference between the black and yellow key, but the red key was really fast (we could test out the red key after the actual tour).

If the Segway becomes available in Europe for 35% less than the current US price, I would be buy one immediately.

I recommend everyone visiting Paris to take the tour.
I also recommend Europeans with interest in the Segway to go to Paris and test it out... you get plenty of time for just 70 euro. See www.parissegwaytours.com
