May 1, 2003 - oregonlive.com -- A few days ago, for the first time, I saw a Segway "human transporter" in action. A guy was riding the gyroscopically balanced, high-tech, scooterlike device on the sidewalk in front of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland.
