Jonathan Ive, Apple's design guru, has been named to Esquire's "Best and Brightest" list of "emerging leaders who are reshaping our world." The full list will appear in a special issue of the magazine that hits newsstands November 7. The issue will contain profiles of everyone on the list.
The "Best and Brightest" list is divided into four categories: society, culture, business and science. Former President Bill Clinton has written the foreword to the special issue of Esquire. The magazine's editors sought input for the list from such luminaries as: Miramax chief Harvey Weinstein; CBS President & CEO Les Moonves; founder of Celera Genomics J. Craig Venter; inventor Dean Kamen; artist Chuck Close; architect David Rockwell; the president of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, Maxine Singer; and heart surgeon Michael DeBakey.
Ive isn't the first Apple employee to make an Esquire list. Twenty years ago, the magazine's Esquire Register identified such influential folks as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.
