I've twice had the pleasure of dealing with Shawn and his son of Segway New Mexico, in Albuquerque. The first time was while visiting Albuquerque on a house-hunting trip prior to moving here, in Oct. 2008. I had my daughter with me and was looking for fun things for us to do. I had always wanted to ride a Segway and recalled that a friend had done a Segway tour in Chicago. So I Googled and found that Segway New Mexico (SNM from here on) offered tours in Albuquerque. I booked Claire and I on a "Fun Tour" and we had a blast. Thanks, guys!
Like I said, we had an immense amount of fun on our tour. Shawn and his son were very patient with our training and had us gliding like pros by the tour's end. As a corollary, I became totally hooked on Segways, and resolved to buy my own Segway ASAP. That became possible recently, so I am now the proud owner of a new i2 (Sage, Commuter Package). I went back to SNM for the purchase. We negotiated what I considered to be a very reasonable price. I didn't want to go online and buy because I wanted to be sure I bought from an Authorized Segway Dealer, and besides that I like to keep my money in the local community whenever possible. And I like being able to get local service if, God forbid, that ever becomes necessary. Anyway, the Segway got here around 10 days after I ordered it. SNM delivered it to my home and set it up for me. They gave me all the time I wanted for asking questions, getting clarifications, and so on. They even threw in a free tour for me and four friends, to be taken at my convenience. This is probably a way to addict new gliders, but what the hell? I'll help 'em out!
Anyhow, after I get past Beginner Mode I plan on commuting to work most days on my i2. I can't wait! And I want to thank the guys at SNM for their help and professional service. They do a lot of custom work (paint, mods) as well, so check them out. I myself would deal with them any time.
