I remember when they filmed the movie in Dallas - they used the Dallas Apparel Mart, but it's now called Dallas Market Center. Fascinating to watch. That was during my "theatre days"

you should definitely call your dealer if you find your clothes are flashing red. there could be a battery issue.

so... apparently the tv show let you live till 30, eh? i read the book in college and at the time was either at the age or close to the age when you had to report.

Yes, same as the movie.

In the book, "deathday" was at 21.

Who always wears black while on a Segway (and everywhere else,) and now I finally figured it out. I think he must have reported or ran.

i wonder how many sci-fi shows have run with this one. there was an episode of stargate:atlantis where the team encountered a planet that had honorary suicide at 25 to maintain a shield that protected the inhabitants from the wraith.

Oh, no, someone using someone else's (successful) idea! Surely that never happens. :p

Nora, did you know that Puffs now come impregnated with Vicks?

Now, now, not every coincidence of plot device is plagiarism. If one person can think of something, certainly another person can as well. I'm nearly certain that this particular plot device has been used many times.
