Not sure if anyone posted this yet. I am new to the community so maybe this is a usual thing but it sure got me reved-up!!! How far does one go for polo? Apparently all the way to Indianapolis....

Cool that these videos are up here, but I don't see how you could learn to play polo from them.

I was refering to traveling about 2,200 miles from California to Indianapolis. Currently a group of us from the California Gold Rush club in Sacramento travel 200 miles round trip every other weekend (weather permitting) to play polo with the Silicon Valley Aftershocks and the Oakland Junkyard dogs down in San Jose. A little more challenging to go 20 times the distant but hey...its the WOZ cup!!!

First video is hilarious.

Right off the bat Woz says you wear a helmet so if you fall down you won't get hurt, then immediately talks about how the Segway won't let you fall. "So basically, you can't fall." -- Woz.

Hehe . . .

That's dumb. The helmet is to protect your head from HARD WOODEN MALLETS.

My hat's off to the Woz and the Aftershocks...the videos are a great start! I do hope we'll see more installments soon. We (the Gold Rush) have been tossing around the similar ideas to "bring the polo rules to life".

ps - Hellphish, if you do have ideas on how to show the more dynamic aspect of the rules, PM me. That's the real challenge. Choreographing the dynamic flavor of play so as to focus on various polo rules is challenging. And getting the right shots with a video camera make that even more difficult.

Hey Polo,

If you need good video shots, I have an idea for you.

Noel Lee, head monster at Monster Cable, is an avid Segway user. He might be able to get you into Monster Park. You could set up the playing field and have them use the overhead camera to get some great action shots.

You could even set-up various plays to highlight certain rules as needed.

Maybe a long shot....but worth a try?

Excellent suggestion. Keep them coming. I know the Aftershocks know Noel well, so maybe the path forward will become apparent!

ps - I would have to wonder if the camera equipment was owned by Monster Park or by a video company contracted to shoot the games there. Still, I'll bet Noel could pull strings. Overhead shots would be excellent...I really liked some of the ones I saw in the Super Bowl!

Maybe Woz has that kinda money . . .

It's going to have to be a very big bag of it.
