Has anyone seen and /or tried the Tweel? When will they be available and how much will they cost?

WarrenMany of us would like to see one.

The last I heard, the plans to implement them on the PT & Centaur have been discontinued. There are a number of reasons for this.

One is due to a design consideration inherent to the tweel's construction.

It turns out, to offer the superior performance, the tweel only does so in a narrow weight range. For example, a PT with a 100 lb. rider would need a different tweel than a PT with a 200 lb. rider.

This kind of difference can be much more effectively be handled by conventional pneumatic tires.

Also, being new, the cost would likely be high. And the PT is already considered overly expensive by many non-users.

You also may have noticed that Segway, Inc. is no longer using Michelin brand tires on PTs.

There are a lot of tweel related posts here. Use the search function with the word "tweel" to find them.

They would make more sense on the surface of Mars, perhaps...

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall seeing them on the ibot, but not on the primary 4 wheels, but the 5th and 6th smaller wheels on the front.

You're right, but these are demo videos.

This afternoon, I'll post pictures of the iBOT with 4 main Tweels.
