Hi all

On behalf of Florin, Will, Sal and myself, this post contains the official nominations for the Segway Chat Awards 2006.

The nominations are based on your suggestions (http://forums.segwaychat.com/showthread.php?t=14029) and by each judge digging deep into their memory and searching back through posts made between 1-Nov-2005 and 31-Oct-2006. Where possible, we've drawn up a list of 5 nominations for each category.

Take a look and please discuss which member you feel is most deserving of each award. All of your comments will be taken into consideration but the judges' decision is final.

We will announce the winner and runner-up in each category on 31st December 2006. You have until 25th December to post your comments.

This is almost a year in review. Hope it brings back some fond memories of SC 2006.

What a great list! So many great choices, I'm not sure how to pare it down to vote! How do you want the voting done? Via email or PM to one of you specifically? i.e., is it supposed to be public (via this thread) or private?

I do want to say that RC Mike is only banned at his request. He was placed on moderation for a while and subsequently chose to leave the forum, first asking that I remove all his posts (which I refused to do) and then he wanted to be banned - I didn't understand it, but was willing to do at his request. In my book, if he wanted to return, he could.... :)

I'd like to thank Will, Florin, and especially Gareth for all the time and effort it took to organize these "ceremonies."

I certainly hope that people will find them as fun and nostalgic ;-) as I did.

Hi Sal,

I notice you have changed your avator, I know, you want to win next year :D

It's a nice one, but it does make me dizzy when I look to it for some time.

How do you want the voting done? Via email or PM to one of you specifically? i.e., is it supposed to be public (via this thread) or private?Hi Pam, to be clear, voting for the Members' Choice Award should be done via the link in my original post. This sends a private e-mail to Sal, who is collating the results. All other recommendations should be posted here, in this thread.

Thanks

I'm still confused. Isn't the members choice award separate? How do we vote for the individual categories mentioned below, or do we? Do we send an email to Sal? What are the recommendations that you mentioned? I thought the recommendations ended when you got the lists together under each category. Since the original thread is locked, it might be good to compile the voting directions here, including the link to Sal for the Members' Choice.

Please remove my nomination for "Most Helpful Post". I understand that some people appreciated my efforts, but I also know some folks really resented my frequent updates. For that reason, I shouldn't be in the running...also my esteemed fellow nominees for the award deserve it far more than me.

Now if you'd had a "Most adept at diverting the thread's topic to polo" or a "most likely to talk about something outlandish and then carry through with it" award, I'd happily stayed in the running for that! 8^) 8^) 8^)

ps - Also my organizing efforts probably would have been better spent at the postal auction. I hate to think of how much we all lost combined because we didn't coordinate our bids.

Hey Plo, Just because some people may not agree doesn't mean you shouldn't be in the running. I don't know how Gareth, Florin and Will feel, but I personally think you should remain in the running.

I fully agree with Sal.Me too!

The Members Choice is a "secret" award based purely on your votes (email Sal with your vote for this (http://forums.segwaychat.com/sendmessage.php?do=mailmember&u=1204)).

Your thoughts, suggestions, campaigning even, for all other categories, go in this thread, as described by Florin, or in as little or as much detail as you like.

FWIW, I think Plo should remain <G>.

FWIW, I also think voting should be private, not posted in the forum. I'm not inclined to vote publically, because I wouldn't want anyone to think I"m slighting them. Just FWIW.

Pam, if people want to vote privately, they can - no problem. Simply pass your thoughts to any of the Judges directly. I use PM on this forum and also have e-mail set up via this forum. Check out my profile (http://forums.segwaychat.com/member.php?u=2974). Alternatively, my direct e-mail address is segway (AT) ndwood (DOT) com.

The reason we left it forum based was to try and generate a little reminiscing; something which may be fun for everyone to share. We were hoping for lots of feedback, laughs, thoughts, discussion etc. But if it all happens off-line, no problem.

It needn't be arduous either. Perhaps you might only like to comment on a few areas? Not a problem. All thoughts are welcomed. Unless we get feedback here, the Judges will have to make up their own minds independent of the members general feelings - that would be a shame IMHO.

Thanks

Hi Pam,

I think we all hope that there will be a lot of votes. Otherwise it will be a hard job to select the winners.
