Have any of you all seen this? It uses Segway Smart Motion to balance. Wouldn't it be neat to be gliding down the street with this guy following you? I think it must be from the partnership segway.inc made a while back

That looks cool! A mini electric pedestrian, you could say.

Is what it is called. Or... personality bot.

There are tons of articles on the web about it.

Apparently it's only the first of a series of robots that will use Smart Motion.

The P-Bot looks very cool, and it would look so neat gliding with it, but I wonder how much money it would be, I mean, Segway parts aren't cheap. Also, more reaserch reveals that its real name is the P.E.A. Bot. Which stands for Personality Evolved Android. Hmm, I guess the screen it has is for a virtual face, or somthing like this.

Stusegway,

Here's an old thread, from back when the partnership was announced:

Segway Toy ("http://forums.segwaychat.com/showthread.php?t=10780)

There is some speculation there about prices and other implications.

There's another related thread from around the same time, but due to it's status of being a closed thread, it won't appear as a link here.

If you search for "WoWWee", then chose the "Just a Toy" thread, you can view it.

It's a thread with 95 replies and over 2500 views.

I'm guessing that it will run $299 or less, but that's just based on what I think I read in an article.

It doesn't need to worry about keeping a human safely upright, and it can pick itself up if it falls, so it can use very inexpensive balancing hardware.

That looks like a great step forward in their product line

I found a site that has lots more images of the P-Bot. Somthing interesting though is that it has no hands! I wonder if they will add those in the future?

It has hands, it's just a knuckle dragger (and no comments from the women!).
