I figured it out! I've uploaded several pics of the cane mount we put together. You can find them in my photo album here;

The mount is comprised of three RAM mount components;
RAM-B-201A -a 1 in. arm
RAP-B-231 - a ball mount
RAM-B-272 - a 1 in. angle bracket.
The angle bracket atttaches to the underside of the handlebar in the right accessory mount. You'll likely need a washer to snug things up. The ball mount is attached to the cane shaft, and the 1 in. arm connects the two. When tightened, the cane maintains whatever position you've placed it in very securely without rattling or moving at all. When you need to remove it, a couple of twists of the know and it's free. Obviously, you could mount it on either the left side or the right, inside or ourside of the bar. We chose this position since it didn't interfere with the steering or mode control at all, and left the tightening knob very accessable.
The mount components are available through any RAM dealer. We got ours through our good friends at www.gpscentral.ca, total retail cost under $50. CDN.

So far, our mobility impaired customers that have seen it really like it because it holds the cane very securely (no chance of it slipping off accidentally) and yet it's still easy to get off the bar when they need it.
