different color keys, same top speed?

Do different color keys suppose to give different top speed or just turning speed?

Depends on how they're programmed. The colors are just colors. The top speed on the 'i' is 12.5 mph, regardless of the color of the key. (top speed on the 'p' is 10)

The keys as they come from Segway for the 'i' is red key, top speed 12.5, yellow key, top speed 8, black key, top speed 5. The turning speed is proportionately slower as you go down in speed.

However, there have been people who have purchased the equipment to make their own keys and they might have blue keys with a top speed of 12.5 and a turning speed as slow as the turning speed on LLC's black key. Or they might have black keys with a top speed of 4 mph, and a slower turning radius. Those are just keys that have been programmed differently.

Just got the P with 3 keys but can't tell the difference in top speed among them.

I have a similar problem. While I can tell there is a difference between black and yellow, it feels negligible.

Without a reference its really hard to tell 6mph from 8, unless you race against a friend, but the different turning speeds are really distinguishable, I think you really get used to your favorite turning speed, hence some like to keep that constant and do keys for various top speeds.

And of course, you have to be hitting the speed limiter 'push back' before you notice any speed difference among the keys. As a new rider I didn't hit speed limiter until I was fairly confident on the machine.

Since the OP has a 'P' series, that would make the difference between red & yellow less noticeable.

I think as time goes on with your P series you will be able to notice a big difference between the black and red keys. Have you experienced the limiter yet?
