I have noticed in several postings that the base of the HT minus the batteries, tires and fenders is listed as 47lbs. Which only leaves 3lbs for a container if you want to get it on an airplane under the 50lb free limit. I weighed mine today (at work with a highly accurate scale) and it came to 40lbs. Anyone else notice this or am I crazy. [?] This means if my container is less than 10lbs I'm OK?

I don't remember the weight of the stripped platform but believe your scale. I made a wooden box to protect the platform as checked baggage. I designed it to weight less than 70 pounds to keep it under the airline weight limit and sized it to be under the overall size limit for checked baggage. Here are some pictures:

Power Platform plus CSB plus two Gearboxes = 42#. Without the Gearboxes = 24# (pretty much the bare minimum). This is all without Handlebar, Control Shaft, Tires & Wheels, Fenders, Batteries and Mat.
