2005 i180 FOR SALE - Batteries Dead
2005 i180 for Sale
I bought this used in 2012 from a local person who bought and sold Segways, for my wife who has MS. She used it infrequently for about a year, before her MS become worse. She now has trouble with her balance & is too weak to stand for any length of time, so no more Segway rides. It has been sitting here plugged in for more than a year but recently I tried to start it up and it won't start. Segway customer service went through some tests with me and it appears it has one completely dead battery (2005) and the second battery I cannot tell if it is good. I bought this second battery new in late 2013 yet it has a 2011 serial number. I don't want to spend all the money for new batteries when my wife cannot ride it anymore. I am asking $800 (OBO) + shipping. I would be happy to send the Segway to a buyer with or without the batteries. Also included is a Segway travel bag (see picture). Please contact me if you are interested or have questions. If you live anywhere around Washington, D.C. you could pick up locally & save on shipping. Thanks! Philip |

One of the batteries should still be good. The older battery definitely is no longer good. Most Segway dealers sell the batteries for about $995 but you may be able to find some cheaper on the internet or from other owners.

I am willing to go lower in price. I will consider a reasonable market offer.

maybe we can work something out
Hi Philip,
My Wife also has MS and we got a Segway i180 for the exact same reasons. We are looking to sell ours too, so I called Rep here in DC and they mentioned that they are also helping someone else to sell an i180. I assume you are the same i180 listed on Craigslist too. So here's what I think might be a win/win - I have 2 sets of batteries. I got both through Rep. I'd be happy to sell one. Maybe we can work something out through Rep where I'd take them by the shop, he can test them and you can get a pair of batteries at a more reasonable price. That helps both of us sell our Segways. I think Rep's a great guy and I'm sure he'd be happy to help. Ken |

As I recall:
Model i167 came as standard witn NiMH batteries, and needed a software upgrade to run Li-ions. Both Models i170 and i180 came standard with NiMH or optional Li-ion batteries, and did NOT need a software upgrade to run Li-ions. Cheers Michael |
