2007 Segway i2 Starting Issue
I've owned a 2007 i2 Segway since new.
This is one of those Segways that had the early "cold start" issue. This is when the machine wouldn't start when it was below a certain temperature. Recently it won't start at all unless its plugged in. (The only way it will start if the unit is too cold...) Has anyone else seen this issue and know a fix?

I believe the only fixes were to send it to the mothership and get a replacement CSB or something

Yes, but it's strange that it now it doesn't start up at all unless it's plugged in.

You need to rule out the Infokey first...
Put a fresh new battery in the Infokey and see if this fixes it. Next, remove the Infokey from the dock and put the Infokey close to the console housing (directly above the balance indicator lights) and push the power button and see if it starts without the cord. This is a temporary resolution, but at least you won't need the power cord with you. If that doesn't work then you need to rule out the radio board next. Unfortunately, they have to be programmed by Segway Inc. to the SN of the unit and you will need to coordinate this through a dealer. Not all dealers will do this repair in house, so make sure you ask them first. Good luck! |
