Default He's a basher

A buyer would have to be pretty foolish or desperate to pay $4000 for a used/abused machine with old software.

Why would he buy new batteries? My guess is he's still using it, and his reserve is probably $3999.95. He probably doesn't want to sell it, he just wants to live in his own delusion, and keep ranting to the rest of the world about it.

He must be mellowing out, because he's no longer posting links to pictures of his broken arm.

Hopefully he'll get over it, stop annoying the rest of the world with his whining, and sell his seg at a reasonable price.

just my .02

It turns out that it costs him somewhere between $40 and $50 to post that listing, if it doesn't sell. That's because of the buy-it-now and reserve price.

I suppose if it's worth that much to do it, then we shouldn't complain.

Default 12 hours old when I found it

I was a bit surprised to see this auction had gone for 12 hours. Ebay's been pretty good about removing these within hours.

As we all know, scams abound on ebay for HTs. This thread is to keep them all in one place, and to also provide newbies with a quick referral list to their most recent "quest" -

note: if the ebay listing isn't here, that doesn't mean it's not a scam, it just might mean that the thread hasn't been found it yet. Please don't hesitate to check by asking a question here in this forum, and one or more of us will go over to ebay and look at it.

Plomoh adds:
"To best (and most quickly) determine if an Ebay auction for a Segway is legit, take these three steps in this order:
1) Ask the seller for the serial number of the Segway (don't let them tell you that this information must remain a secret since a serial number by itself cannot be used in any nefarious way)
2) Offer to have a friend nearby the seller come by and pay in cash in person and pick up the Segway (most sellers would appreciate this since it avoids shipping hassles)
3) Call Segway INC and verify that the segway with the serial number you were given is owned by someone who lives in the same state or country as indicated in the Ebay auction (though please only do this if you absolutely have to since Segway INC can't really afford to field numerous calls from lots of Ebay bidders every day)

NOTE: As a disclaimer, taking these steps does NOT guarantee that the Ebay auction and seller are legit. Even if you do all this, you may still be scammed. You are advised to take whatever additional steps you deem necessary to avoid fraud...and heck, post those additional steps in this thread so others Ebay bidders who come here can benefit."

Pam
SPOT THE POSSIBLE SCAMS GUIDE.

1. Nearly always contact is demanded only through E Mail and specifically not the "ask seller a question" link.

2. They never respond to an E Mail where you/a friend offer to travel to see them with the cash.

3. Usually they will not give you a phone number or take up an offer for them to phone you.

4. Every single one I have contacted where the HT is on offer for only 24 hours (not enough time to check things out) has been a scam.

5. Free delivery (even to me in the UK). Always a scam as of course they will never have to deliver.

6. "Goods will be sent before payment" or "no payment expected until goods despatched" (looks good doesn't it). Then they will ask, upon reciept of an E Mailed delivery document or despatch note (easily concocted), for full payment.

7. "Never used still in box" but machine is a old model and photos are plagarised. Always suspect.

8. "No reserve". Forget it!

I tried a segway for the first time a few weeks ago and LOVED it.
Now I am thinking of buying one. I have been looking on ebay.
But after reading some of the posts in the forum it sounds to risky.
I would consider a new one. But, I have also been reading in the forum
talk of new models, updates, etc. Should I wait to buy a new unit?
Will the i180 be improved? Maybe cheaper?
Also. if anyone knows of a good used unit in the Lower Hudson Valley
of N.Y.

Thanks. . .Happy Gliding

Interesting that he put up the fault log. I suppose he thinks it shows how fault-prone the HT is. What it really shows is how irresponsible a rider he is.
