The thing about tiny devices like this is that they replace walking, not substantial journeys outdoors in the real world like the Segway can. I commute 6.5 miles over heaving sidewalks, curbs, driveways, potholes, debris, roadway patches, etc. This device could NEVER do any of that.
So, anyone riding this thing could properly be accused of riding instead of walking. The vast majority of my Segway sides are replacements for car trips, not walking and I explain that to anyone who I chat with. And when I do, I see a change in their thinking as they realize that I am saving car trips and not just being too lazy to walk.

In my case, I'm saving on public transportation and taxis. My Segway's also safer than taking a subway sometimes. |
