Can you please provide a link to further information regarding the regulations being reversed. I have the data from 2015 where it states that there is an exception made so devices being used for disability purposes "could" be accepted at the "sole discretion" of the airline. If this has changed I would like to be further informed so I can better inform customers whom inquire about this. Thanks in advance for any further information you can offer.

Pages 14 and 15 are specific to passengers traveling with a device for mobility assistance. Because the batteries are not designed to be removable, they are allowed when checked in with the device. Shipping as air freight is entirely different and a Segway would be prohibited. |

Regarding a letter from a doctor, I respectfully disagree. The problem with a Segway is that it is not an approved assistive device. There are far too many instances where people have been turned away from an airline when they did not have to be. Spreading knowledge can be a good thing. Paul |

I always utilize Super shuttle at my destination since they provide reasonably-priced accessible vans when requested. During my trip last month to MCO, I was on the cell with my pickup driver and we couldn't find each other in the baggage claim area. Turns out she was about 30 ft away looking for a man in a wheelchair, not standing on a Segway. Lesson learned! Re: Approved Assistive Device - technically, a Ford van isn't an A/D either, but when devices are added under a doctor's script it becomes one...just saying. *
