csb won't work when bolted down
I have 2 gen 1's. XT and I. I was getting the full circle with wrench code, which is platform. I swapped out a lot of stuff, but when I swapped the control shaft base, the XT started. I put the bad csb on the i67 and it starts and runs fine with everything loose, but once I put a bolt in csb, it throws the code and shuts down. Anyone have any ideas or a csb for sale?

One possibility is that there is a broken track or an intermittent solder joint on the printed circuit board. The board flexes slightly when bolted down and opens up the track/joint. These are notoriously difficult to locate, especially if the broken track is in a middle layer of a multi-layer pcb. You can try tightening up the bolts a little at a time to identify which corner is most sensitive, then use a 10x magnifier to look at every solder joint near that corner. Good luck!

I was thinking more of a possible short to ground or frame ground, and when you bolt the csb to the base, you complete that short to ground...
Try using a piece of wood, and screw all bolts to the wood, and see if the CSB or bits inside flex and fail, when they do not when hanging loose. If they fail, then the problem is one of flexing as the previous post indicates. IF you can secure to a non conductor but not to a conductor, the problem may be a leak to ground or case, and as long as that bit of case is not electronically transmitted to the base you are okay... A short of this kind may easily be where a wire goes thru a hole or near the side wall of the aluminium housing. If this is a case, actually in either case, the very close inspection mentioned above is warranted. It is actually fairly common for the wires in the top of the control base to get pinched by the bottom of the upper control shaft, when fully collapsed. I would start my search there... Good luck. Keep us posted.
