My lithium-ion batteries
I have a set of lithium ion batteries I'm not sure what to do with. When I put them on my Segway i170 and try to charge them, the rear battery indicator just displays a red LED light. The front battery indicator displays nothing. Regular batteries work just fine on the Segway, so not sure what the issue is?
Open to suggestions... it may be that they need reviving? -J

Thanks for the PM. Looking up how to measure volts coming from the batteries:
http://forums.segwaychat.org/showthread.php?t=13103 I found on these, I was getting about 19-20v from one set of terminals on both batteries (apparently the lions only use one set of terminals?). That's supposed to be closer to 74v, right? So it looks like the batteries are good? These are both rev. AB batteries.

Rev AB
Hi John
Rev AB batteries will be pretty old. At a guess, without seeing them, they are nearing end of life. Yes, a Battery Reviver may be able to get them going, but I would not consider them good candidates for giving you much ongoing usage. Sorry to be the bearer of such news. Michael www.dgbint.com |

I agree, Rev.AB batteries are certainly less than likely to have much usable life left in them. I would recommend rebuilding or replacing them to get your machine back up and running. If I can be of any assistance please don't hesitate to give me a call.

Thanks for the feedback, sounds legitimate... given they were probably purchased 8 or 9 years ago.
Are they worth any money to anyone to sell? Or give away...? How much would it cost to rebuild them??

Cool, thanks. Think I'll stick to the NIMHs and rebuild them when the time comes instead... Can you believe they are even older than the li-ions and still can hold a nice charge?!
