Default I2 Wheel Wobble

One of my '07 I2's has wheels which wobble a little from side to side - Is this likely bent wheels or bent axles? Any quick fix?

I assume it's from running into things and/or accidents. It runs fine and nobody but me has ever noticed, but if there's a way to correct it, I'd like to do it

Not only make sure the lug nuts are tight.....Make sure those Allen bolts are also tight.....
I painted my rims once and they loosened up some over time and gave a clunk and a wobble...

Thanks! - That could be it I suppose. No noises but I do find that occasionally a hubcap works it's way loose, so maybe something isn't as tight as it should be

Early i2s commonly experienced bent wheels. The center section wasn't strong enough.

Sometimes the wheel can be straightened, and I think I recall that sometimes putting shims behind specific mounting bolts fixed the problem. Search for bent wheel posts on this forum.

I took the wheels off and cleaned them well, adjusted the tire pressures and put them back on. It appears to me the wheels are plastic? The mounting plate in the middle is metal, but it looks to be encapsulated in plastic all around. Is the rest really all plastic?

I think I'll try really thin shims behind one or two of the lug studs and see if I can correct most of the wobble

I rotated my wheels around until I found the position with the least wobble, then I took a rubber mallet to the wheel while mounted to pound out the last little bit of wobble. I marked a bolt and the spot on the wheel where they touch, so I can always get back to this "wobble compensated" position.

We used to bend the original wheel flanges all the time playing polo. Turn the Segway on its side with the bad wheel facing up. Spin the wheel till the high spot is 180 degrees away from the top of the fender. Bounce your butt on the high spot. Repeat as needed.

Works great.

Thanks Jeff - Make sense . . . . if the wheel gets bent, bend it back the same way it got bent!

Love your Mickey Mantle quote BTW - He was my favorite athlete growing up as a kid
