Thanks Bvelke, we are contacting with Jason and will send him samples for evaluation soon.

And thanks Tritium, I'll try to firstly post two pics. And I'd like to share the problem with i180 when we get an i180 and find the problem out.

I like the idea of potential added features for these batteries, like a GPS tracker, or possibly some of the other items the OP mentioned they might add to their batteries if we indicated we wanted them...

But if they are ready to test their batteries for use, and ready to market them as they seem to be indicating here, it seems late in the process to be adding these features.

If MTO or anyone else checks out a battery from these folks, and then they add a GPS tracker inside, wouldn't that be a different battery? What is the lead time, what is the test time for the battery with the extra features? I would think the more extras you add, the more testing you need to ferret out the unintended results...

iWay,

The single most important thing I would want to add is a jack for external powering other devices. GPS, Cellphone, Lights, LEDS... A mini/micro USB connector that provided 500ma would be just WONDERFUL!

And you want this jack to be placed where?

If you look at a li-ion installed there is lots of places. Karl used to install batteries in the "hole area", a small cable would be easy to route

Thank you all!

An USB connector to power other devices is also a thougt of us. GPS, USB connector or anything else is still a concept for the moment. We will try to add them after the battery is approved and recognised by customers as adding these features means redesign of the BMS and lid tooling.

We will send samples to Jason at MTO for evaluation soon. If any other professional expert here is willing to devote his time to test our battery we would be happy to provide samples FOC too. But we hope you can burden the express cost as a support of us

Karl, you are quite right and actually I like your criticalness which makes us think more completely and rigorously. I'll share what you said with our engineers and managers as a reminder to them.

The problem with a USB connector is making it watertight. Segways are used in all kinds of weather, subjected to salt spray, carried on the backs of vehicles in intense rain, alkali dust, and other conditions that are not compatible with USB connectors.

A detachable, replaceable module that contains a USB connector, but physically isolates the connector from the battery might do the trick. You could even power it inductively, and have no exposed power terminals crossing the battery walls.

Still -- while I've wanted a connector more times than I can count, I think it's better to emphasize ruggedness over features.

For about $85 I can get a 9000 AH LiIon battery that fits in my pocket and will charge my devices. I'd rather do that, and have a highly reliable battery that can survive every condition I and Mother Nature throw at it.

Being able to power headlights, etc. would certainly be convenient. Reliability first, however!

Obviously, we can't have infinite voltage, or the universe would tear itself to shreds, and we wouldn't be discussing Segways.
