Talking Problem solved Segway behaving normally again

1. Discharged batteries again to two bars recharged again overnight.
2. Test glide same behaviour as reported - yuk!
3. Removed batteries.
4. Tested with my other multi-range multimeter checked its batteries first -all OK
5. Tested both my very old batteries (2006) - 75 volts both of them other multimeter is no functioning at higher DC voltages it seems.
6. Re-installed batteries. Test glide. no behaviour change.
7. Think laterally..........
8. Maybe the batteries are not really stuffed? Maybe not
9. What about my tyres are they flatter than my batteries
10. Wow. Yep my turf tyres are only 1.5 psi
11. Pumped up my tyres to 4psi.
12. Test glide....perfect:.....no warning modes,no errors up to 12km/hr over bumpy Sidewalks and bumpy adjacent lawns. Glided 600 m absolutely no stick shakes, no slow mode, only two happy faces all the way...me and the infokey!

13. Looks like Flat tyres not flat batteries and super dumb operator was the problem.
14. Flat tyres required far to much torque, more than my batteries could possibly deliver.
15. Off for a very long glide.....hoping all remains well. Perhaps I can keep using my 11 year old batteries after all.
Will report back again.

Thumbs up Further comments

1. Completed a sidewalk glide on my 2006 i2 PT which is currently configured as an X2 with turf wheels and a Segseat attached.
2. Covered a distance of 5km@ approximately 8-10km/hr. Seated.
3. No battery problems, error codes, no stick shake, no emergency shutdown.
4. Ambient temperature 10deg C.
5. Max speed 12.5km/hr.
6. Started out with 6bars charge, used 4 bars, 2bars remaining at the end of this test glide.
7. It was cold!, maybe my old batteries are still doing OK.
8. My tyres are much better

An update on my "flat" battery and flatter tyre problem:
Well all is good.
Winter temperaturs abating - spring is in the air. -2 to 20 is now more common.
No error stick shakes or neutral faces.
Longer glides and batteries that have been on charge for about six years are very slowly getting better.
Not getting better fast enough for me😟
So bit the unpleasant bullet and new batteries are arriving soon. Expect they will improve my gliding range enourmously...

Will provide and update thereafter🤗

Talking Progress update

Two new batteries now installed, charged and tested.
Wow, what a difference this has made. Took a glide over approximately 12km and used only 3bars of charge. Average speed for the journey 9.5 km/hr with frequent speeds around 14-18km/hr on clear flat up to 2 deg + &- slopes. Running tyre pressures on X2 configured i2 @ 4 psi.
My Segway is now better than new and lots of fun again.

Your InfoKey battery gauge probably doesn't reflect the actual charge in your new batteries. It might be a good idea at this point to recalibrate the battery gauge, as Segway recommends

To recalibrate the display:
1. Fully charge the Batteries for 12 hours.
2. Discharge the Batteries (through normal use of the PT) until the
bottom bar in the Display is blinking, representing approximately 10
percent Battery charge remaining (see Figure 60).
3. Leave your PT in a safe, secure location, powered on, until the Battery
charge is fully depleted, and your PT powers down.
NOTE:
Depleting your PT Batteries from the bottom bar to empty could
take several hours.
4. Fully recharge the Batteries for a minimum of 12 hours, after which
the Battery Charge Level Display will be recalibrated.

I have found that - unless I am doing a lot of "cross-country" turf riding - X2 pressure of 6 to 8 psi works better.

Hi:

Which seat is the "segseat ?" I have had a SegSaddle and a GlideSaddle, I am always interested in new seat options for the seg. Which seat do you have and do you like it ? Thanks.

Thanks Don, will re-calibrate again, and Dale thanks for the tyre pressure tip- will try the higher pressures.

My SegSeat is an earlier version (see attached image). I find this seat quite good to use, comfortable, easily adjustable. I am not really able to compate its characteristics and quality to other seats because this is the only one I have used. Use it intermittantly and am expecting to use it with golf configuration but have not done so yet.
