how do I make a segway X2 narrower
I have an X2 with turf tyres and it is just too wide to ride through my gate, I noticed that between the rims and the axle there is a large square aluminium spacer with a large round hole held on with four bolts.
Removing this spacer allows me to ride through the gate i had to slightly file the plastic guards as the wheels were rubbing against the inner guard. I cant notice any difference in handling My questions are: 1 what dose the spacer do, I can not see any reason for it 2 Does removing it affect the handling 3 Dose removing the spacer void warrantee 4 would removing the spacer do any long term damage. Spacer is provided to give sufficient clearance between the wheels, fenders and other attachments. Otherwise you get "rubbing" between these parts on a turn.
My bet, removal causes adjustment of other items. Whether it's a performance and safety problem, can't really say. After attaching 23" wheels vs OEM 22", I occasionally get some "rubbing" but no real problems. The difference in the tires is a lot less than the size of the spacers however. I had a similar problem when I added Givi bags to my X2. I used to be able to glide through the outside doors; now I have to dismount and hand drive Trigger through the door squeezing the bags inward. Small difficulty for having the extra carrying capacity. To each his own. Maybe a bigger gate! Last edited by Seginaway; 08-14-2017 at 02:53 PM.. |
