Default Night rider?

My new CNC machine should be coming within the next 2 weeks. I can finally start work on an idea I have had for awhile.

Not sure if any of you are familiar with Nori Lights, but I wanted something similar for my Segway. Issues are that our Segways don't have rims, or easy attachment points like a bicycle does. My Segway just barely fits through interior doors, so having things hanging out or over wouldn't work. As you can see from the video, the lights must be at 90° to the surface to work effectively.

I have a piece (⅓ of the total) created in CAD already, and will hopefully be cutting it out as soon as my machine arrives. The other 2 pieces should follow soon after.

Once I have the files made, I can produce as many copies as I want. The question is whether there is interest in a product like this. I would anticipate cost to be fairly low for the basic module. The rest of the kit can be ordered directly from manufacturers (no middleman costs). Let's just say that I would anticipate the cost for both wheels to be much less than an Accessory Bar Kit.

I will post updates with photos and videos as my project moves along.

Default Night rider CNC solution?

Hi BoscoBob,

Your post isn't very clear on exactly what your vision is.

Are you trying to create a Nori Lights system that will work with your segway?

How do you plan to use your CNC machine to do this?

"The rest of the kit can be ordered directly from manufacturers (no middleman costs). Let's just say that I would anticipate the cost for both wheels to be much less than an Accessory Bar Kit."

Seeing as how we manufacture the Nori Lights, what middlemen costs are you referring to?

If you are implying sourcing components from other manufacturers to try to recreate the Nori Lights system, then I clearly you have underestimated our technology and the amount of research that has been involved in developing our product.

Feel free to reach out to me if you want to work together to come up with a solution, or even if you just want to ask a few questions.

Chris

Whoa! I haven't even finalized design or gone through testing yet.

I want a "bulletproof" product to offer. I don't have a PayPal account, but I guess I may need one if I can present a viable product that people will buy. Right now, I am looking at two finish options, brushed aluminum or copper clad.

I'll put you first on the list when this product goes retail. I would rather keep "experimental" versions on my Segway and not use customers as guinea pigs. I will be posting photos and videos of the process and the iterations/challenges/failures/successes as I go along.

Watch this space...

One word: Articulated. It should fit all models with the cargo bars.

Default Getting closer...

Here is the arm that will swing towards the wheel. I still need to fabricate the bracket that will attach to the cargo bars and one to connect to the UV light.
