Segway Dealer Closing Doors
Janice and I have been proud to be part of the Segway community, starting when we got our original i167’s through Amazon in 2003. What exciting times! We have fond memories of visiting the factory numerous times, meeting all the Segway employees, and even having dinner with Dean Kamen at his fabulous home. We attended almost all the U.S. Segfests and met so many wonderful people at those events and right here through Segway Chat. We became a dealer, Segway Orange County in Anaheim, California, in May of 2004. The following year, we opened our tour operation in Newport Beach, giving tours of the Balboa Peninsula. In the early years, we attended dealer meetings and loved meeting other dealers and everyone involved with developing and promoting such a unique product.
As any of you old-timers know, things have certainly changed. It’s been a struggle, while Segway corporate has become a revolving door of CEO’s and staff. With heavy hearts, we know it’s time to close the doors and retire. We will miss many of the friends we have made and customers we will no longer be able to serve. Because the doors aren’t closed quite YET, please see our post under “Stuff to Buy and Sell.” We hope to sell enough of our inventory to break even! Sincerely, Dick Burke dick@segwayoc.com Segway Orange County |

Hey Dick,
Thanks for being such an awesome Segway promoter and community member all these years. It's sad to see you go. Best wishes for your retirement! Chris |

I am sorry to hear about the closure of your business. Your group was one of the best Segway dealers, owners, and friends around. It was always a pleasure seeing you at one of the Segway Conventions or Meetups. I missed your Segway picnics and Segway parades and community events. I regret never having an opportunity to take one of your Segway tours through Newport Beach. I hope you guys stay open long enough, so I can come by and say hi one more time.

Bummer to see you guys close up shop, but I completely understand. The world's a very different place than it was a decade ago. Enjoy your retirement!
