iWay / O'Cell / Lion42 Aftermarket Segway Lithium Batteries Review
Hello,
I purchased 2 new iWay aftermarket Segway lithium batteries for use on my I2 machine a few months ago. The offer sounded great with capacity being increased to 6.6Ah. Initially they worked great for about 2 hours and then the machine did an emergency shutdown. I took my machine to a local dealer and asked them to check the Segway. They tried to charge the iWay batteries on their Segway offboard charger and no lights would light on either battery. The batteries did not work on their test machine either. They installed a set of new Segway batteries on my machine and my I2 worked again. I rented a set of almost new batteries off of the dealer and used them countless times over the next week without incident. Overall I traveled about 70-72mi. Wish I had checked the indicator before I started but I mapped out my routes and feel I am pretty close. They charged properly and worked fine on the machine. I sent the iWay batteries back to the seller in California and they replaced them. They claimed the circuit boards in the batteries "lost their program". I received the replacement batteries and installed them. Two green charging lights and went into slow green flash mode so everything must be great! Nope, I rode them darn things bout 50 meters before another shutdown. I contacted O'Cell the company that manufactures these batteries in China. The service was poor and their product is worse. They claim their product is great and it must be my machine. They say it is impossible for the board to loose the program. They said they have voided my warranty since I obviously tampered with the product. I contacted a well known battery company in Pennsylvania and they advised that they do not work on batteries made by this company. I'd hoped they may be able to repair them for me. They did recommend returning them and getting my money back. Reckon I am now stuck with a ton of money invested into this here hazardous shipping that I wont be able to recover. I am returning the batteries for a refund. The seller has been polite with me so I will not mention their name since they should not be dragged down with this negative experience. Hopefully they wise up and work with a more reputable supplier. Now I need to decide whether to send my old batteries for rebuild or just go back to the dealer to buy brand new. Either way.....my tail is now tucked between my legs and my pockets are a few bills short. My intent of writing this review here is merely to advise the Segway community that iWay, O'Cell, and Lion42 are all made by the same company and are definitely NOT a quality product. Thx |

Thx. I'll call MTO tomorrow and speak with them. I did not lose any miles on my infokey. I just didn't have the foresight to document my exact mileage before I started using the dealers batteries.
Thx |

MTO produces . . .
MTO produced a quality product for me at an excellent price. Turnaround was just a week or so with local drop off/pickup and nary a problem since 2 years ago (3/2014) on a set of rebuilt Li-Ions. They worked better in the cold than the OEM's.
Plus, MTO's digs are to die for . . . It isn't what the workshop looks like; it's the work done in the workshop. Highly recommended. |

Thx Seginaway. I shipped my batteries off to MTO about a week ago. I'm hoping to see them back before too long. The nicer weather down here is creating an itch to get out and glide around.
Thx |
