Okay, so I didn't care much for the new LeanSteer when I saw the pics... but I like it a lot in person (keep in mind that I haven't spent that much time on it yet, so I'll review after some weeks).

It's a breeze to set up... looks nice in person... and then there is the console.

The console feels MUCH stronger. Maybe 'denser' is the right word? I know they lowered it to help people on tours (there were some concerns about new riders catching their foot when trying to dismount). But as a dealer, I can say that a HIGH percentage of units that came in for advanced repairs (repairs to the power base, leansteer sensors, etc) had a cracked console housing (that let moisture in). This feels like it will be a lot more durable.
I don't much like the aesthetics of the new leansteer in the photos on their site, but I'm not going to pass judgement until I see one in person, or at least better photos.

Having trapped my foot once, I can attest that the foot trap issue is real. There was real potential for injury, had I not taken prompt action to free myself.

I've had the console cover come off on its own all too many times (not to mention the charging port door break). Mine is currently held down with duct tape -- since the clear packing tape that held it in place for a couple years finally gave out the other day, leading it to fall off, again. It sounds like they really did make some small-but-important improvements in that area.

Obviously, we can't have infinite voltage, or the universe would tear itself to shreds, and we wouldn't be discussing Segways.
