X2 downhill speed limitation
hi,
at climbing (uphill) the unit reach full speed, but after passing the top and starts the regenerative effect, is appearing the unhappy face together with the triangle with exclamation sign inside. the gradient of hill is not over 10%. at gradient smaller than 5-7% limitation goes off. i have to say that i have one AH and one AF batteries installed. any idea? |

The X-Series software handles hills differently than the i and e-series do.
What you describe sounds normal for an X2 |

ye ye,
that`s why i`m posting this because i2 i drove don`t act to limit speed on down the hill. probably is about regenerative break function. X2 with big diameter of the wheels creates to high RPM on motors, and gearbox is same like i2. may generate an amount of energy that batteries or power triphase H bridges cannot absorb it. this could be a reason that needs to slow down. thanks mate! Torque on motors is higher, but rpm is lower with the larger tires. Torque on motors is lower, but rpm is higher with the smaller tires.

i2 and x2 both limit down hills but the x2 limits more. That is my understanding.

I recall a conversation with Doug Field about this from 2004.

The I2 and X2 have different software. You can check this when mounting X2-tires on a I2 base. It behaves like an I2 and really bitchy. I tried it and love my X2 software with X2 tires.

Interesting...I've done this many times...rode on soft terrain, paved terrain, up /down steep hills, etc...and have never observed any bitchiness out of my i2 wearing x2 rubber.
